Tashkent, Uzbekistan — General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), is on an official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, where he held high-level meetings with the country’s top civil and military leadership.
During the visit, CJCSC called on H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, Major General Shukhrat Kholmukhamedov, Minister of Defence, and Lieutenant General Victor Makhmudov, Secretary of the National Security Council.
Focus on Regional Peace and Security
The discussions revolved around the evolving international and regional geo-political environment, with both sides underscoring the importance of mutual cooperation to address emerging challenges. Matters relating to defence collaboration, counterterrorism, border security, and regional connectivity were highlighted as priority areas of engagement.
CJCSC emphasized Pakistan’s deep-rooted, historic, and brotherly ties with Uzbekistan, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to work closely with Tashkent for peace, stability, and prosperity in the wider region, particularly in the context of Central and South Asia’s security dynamics.
Uzbek Leadership’s Acknowledgment
The leadership of Uzbekistan praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and paid tribute to their sacrifices in the global fight against terrorism. They also recognized Pakistan’s key role in promoting regional stability, connectivity, and counter-extremism efforts.

General Mirza highlighted that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully committed to supporting Uzbekistan in capacity-building initiatives and promoting greater institutional linkages between the two countries’ armed forces.

The visit reflects the growing convergence of Pakistan and Uzbekistan’s strategic outlooks. Both nations reaffirmed their determination to work together for regional integration, countering transnational threats, and unlocking new opportunities in defence, trade, and connectivity.
