On February 6, a suicide bomber struck during Friday prayers at Imambargah Qasr-i-Khadijatul Kubra on the outskirts of the capital. The powerful explosion claimed at least 38 lives and left more than 150 people injured, including elders and children.
The attack has shocked the nation and sparked widespread condemnation from religious leaders and political figures across the country.
Compensation Package for Victims and Hero
During his visit, the prime minister announced Rs10 million for Oun Abbas, who bravely tried to stop the suicide attacker. He also approved Rs 5 million for the family of each person martyred in the attack.
For the injured, Rs3 million will be given to those who are critically wounded and still under treatment. At the same time, Rs1 million will be provided to those with minor injuries who have been discharged from hospitals.
PM Shehbaz later visited Abbas’ residence to personally offer condolences and express appreciation for his courage.
Strong Message Against Terrorism
Addressing affected families, the prime minister said the entire nation was grieving. “These terrorists have no religion, and they have crossed all the limits of cruelty,” he stated, calling the attack the “worst kind of barbaric act.”
He praised religious scholars for standing united and condemning the violence, saying their solidarity had defeated attempts to create division in society.
The prime minister also commended the armed forces, police, and law enforcement agencies for their ongoing fight against terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, reaffirming the government’s commitment to restoring peace and security across the country.
