Pakistan Army Neutralizes Drones Over Rawalpindi; Information Ministry Denounces Taliban’s “Propaganda”

Security forces successfully intercepted two rudimentary drones on Friday in locations adjacent to Rawalpindi. The drones, which security sources have linked to the terrorist group Fitna-al-Khawarij, were brought down using advanced electronic countermeasures.

While the airspace was temporarily closed as a precautionary measure, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has since confirmed that Islamabad International Airport is fully operational and flight schedules remain uninterrupted.

Operational Success and Damage Assessment

Security sources and the Ministry of Information confirmed that the interception was a result of timely electronic warfare interventions.

  • Zero Casualties: No loss of life or damage to military infrastructure was reported.

  • Minor Debris: The ministry noted that only minor damage occurred due to the debris of the forced crashing of the drones.

  • Airspace Reopened: After a “brief operational adjustment,” the PAA dismissed reports of a prolonged closure of Islamabad’s airspace as “baseless.”

Denial of Afghan Taliban Claims

The Ministry of Information issued a stern rebuttal to a post by the Afghan Ministry of Defence, which had claimed that a Pakistan military center at Faizabad had been hit with significant casualties.

  • “Fake News”: Islamabad dismissed the Afghan claims as verifiable “propaganda,” noting that the Taliban regime frequently proliferates misinformation, including past deleted claims of shooting down Pakistan Air Force aircraft.

  • Proxy Warfare: The ministry stated that the incident fully exposes the Taliban regime’s role as a “master proxy of terrorism,” harboring groups such as Fitna-al-Khawarij (TTP) and the Balochistan-centric Fitna-al-Hindustan.

Strategic Definitions

The Government of Pakistan continues to utilize specific terminology to categorize the threats emanating from Afghan soil:

  • Fitna-al-Khawarij: The official state designation for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

  • Fitna-al-Hindustan: The designation for terrorist organizations operating in Balochistan, which the state identifies as being supported by external proxies.
