The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is pleased to announce that His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, arrives in Islamabad today for a high-profile, day-long official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
While His Highness previously visited Rahim Yar Khan in January to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, today’s arrival marks his first formal State Visit since assuming the Presidency, underscoring a new era in the storied partnership between the two brotherly nations.

Strategic Bilateral Engagement
Accompanied by a high-level delegation of ministers and senior officials, President Al Nahyan will be received with the highest state honors. During the visit, the President will hold a restricted meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, followed by delegation-level talks. The two leaders are set to review the entire spectrum of bilateral relations, with a specific focus on:
- Economic Synergy: Bolstering collaboration in trade, investment, and energy.
- Strategic Cooperation: Exchanging views on regional and international issues of mutual interest to enhance stability and peace.
- Developmental Partnership: Reviewing progress on joint projects and the implementation of recently signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs).
This visit reflects the deep-rooted diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties that have defined the Pak-UAE relationship for decades. The UAE remains one of Pakistan’s largest trading partners and a vital source of remittances, supported by a vibrant Pakistani expatriate community that serves as a living bridge between the two nations.
The Foreign Office emphasizes that this visit is a testament to the shared commitment to transform historical connections into a modern, multi-sectoral economic partnership. Building on the MoUs signed in April—which included the establishment of a Joint Business Council and cooperation in consular and cultural affairs—this visit is expected to pave the way for significant future investments in energy and infrastructure.
The presence of His Highness in Islamabad further reinforces the mutual desire to coordinate closely on regional security and humanitarian initiatives. The UAE has consistently stood by Pakistan as a steadfast ally, and today’s engagements will ensure that the “longstanding brotherly relations” continue to evolve for the benefit of both peoples.
