The 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE), the planet’s only national-level showcase dedicated entirely to imports, opened its doors today with a resounding message: in an uncertain world, China is doubling down on openness, shared prosperity, and global cooperation.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang fired the starting gun in a powerful keynote at the opening ceremony and Hongqiao International Economic Forum, declaring: “China will unswervingly promote high-standard opening-up and make new, significant contributions to global growth.”
This year’s CIIE shatters every record:
- 430,000+ m² of exhibition space – the largest in history
- 4,108 overseas exhibitors from 155 countries, regions, and international organisations
- 461 world-first product, technology, and service launches
Running November 5–10 under the theme “New Era, Shared Future,” the expo transforms Shanghai into a six-day global marketplace where cutting-edge innovation meets real business.
Premier Li revealed that the freshly adopted 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) will inject even greater certainty into China’s high-quality development, while pledging to:
- Uphold equality and mutual benefit
- Strengthen the WTO-centred multilateral trading system
- Implement the Global Governance Initiative across trade and economy
From revolutionary medical devices to next-generation green tech and luxury experiences never seen before, the CIIE is where tomorrow’s trillion-dollar deals are born today.
As Premier Li told the packed National Exhibition and Convention Center: “Let us join hands to build an open, inclusive, and interconnected world economy—because a shared future starts with shared opportunity.”
