The Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) of the Republic of Yemen has officially issued a decree terminating the membership of Aidarous al-Zubaidi and referring him to the Attorney General for criminal prosecution. The decision follows a series of escalatory actions that have undermined the sovereignty, independence, and security of the Republic.
The leader of Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council (STC) Aidarous al-Zubaidi has been removed from gov’t for ‘committing high treason’, after Al-Zubaidi ‘fled to an unknown location’, according to the Saudi-led coalition.

Charges of High Treason
The Council, supported by a majority of its presidency, has leveled grave charges against the former member and head of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), including:
- High Treason: For actions deemed to “undermine the independence of the republic.”
- Military Sabotage: Damaging the military, political, and economic standing of the state.
- Illegal Militancy: Forming an armed gang and orchestrating the murder of officers and soldiers of the national armed forces.
- Exploitation: Abusing the “just cause of the South” to commit crimes against civilians.
Failed Diplomacy and Flight
The decree follows Mr. al-Zubaidi’s failure to join an STC delegation scheduled for a diplomatic dialogue in Riyadh. Intelligence confirmed that rather than engaging in the peace process, Mr. al-Zubaidi fled to an unknown location while mobilizing a large-scale military force—including armored vehicles and heavy weaponry—from Aden toward al-Dahle province.
Coalition Response and Security Operations
In coordination with the Saudi-led military coalition and the National Shield Forces, limited pre-emptive air strikes were conducted in al-Dahle to disrupt these unauthorized troop movements. These strikes were necessary to thwart attempts to extend the conflict and preserve the territorial integrity of the nation.
“The government will not allow the exploitation of southern grievances to serve narrow factional interests or foreign-backed agendas that threaten our national security,” stated a spokesperson for the Council.

Provincial Stabilization
The PLC notes that government forces, with coalition support, have successfully restored stability to the eastern provinces of Hadramawt and al-Mahra following recent STC incursions. The Council remains committed to the Riyadh dialogue but emphasizes that the rule of law and the unity of the Yemeni state are non-negotiable.
The PLC has directed STC deputy leader Abdul Rahman al-Mahrami to coordinate with security forces to ensure the safety and stability of the temporary capital, Aden, and to prevent further unrest.
