Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan issued a stern directive to the National Highway Authority (NHA) on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, to expedite all pending infrastructure projects in Sindh. During a high-level review at the NHA Regional Office in Karachi, the minister emphasized that administrative bottlenecks and security concerns must be resolved immediately to prevent further delays. Khan highlighted that the government will maintain a “zero-tolerance” policy regarding construction quality and transparency as the province struggles with the broader logistical impacts of the ongoing regional energy crisis.

The review covered several critical transit arteries, including the N-5, N-55, N-110, N-120, and the long-awaited M-6 Motorway. In a move to modernize the province’s infrastructure, the minister mandated a uniform design for all future toll plazas and announced a strategic overhaul of the toll collection system. To ensure high performance, special incentives were introduced for NHA employees who meet revenue targets and project milestones, while the General Manager was ordered to submit weekly progress reports to eliminate wasteful expenditures.
