A Historic Night at the Emirates
In a clash featuring the reigning UEFA Women’s Champions League winners and the Copa Libertadores champions, Caitlin Foord proved to be the hero. Foord struck in the 104th minute of extra time, beating goalkeeper Lelê at the near post to secure the title in front of a prestigious crowd that included FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
The match appeared headed for an Arsenal victory in regulation time after goals from Olivia Smith and Lotte Wubben-Moy gave the Gunners a 2-1 lead. However, a 96th-minute penalty converted by Vic Albuquerque forced the game into an additional thirty minutes.

Speaking to Sky Sports following the trophy presentation, defender Lotte Wubben-Moy emphasized the weight of the achievement:

As winners of FIFA’s new intercontinental showpiece—which brings together champions from all six confederations—Arsenal will collect a record $2.3 million prize.
The path to the final saw the Gunners dominate Moroccan champions AS FAR 6-0 in the semi-finals, while Corinthians reached the final after a narrow 1-0 win over NWSL side Gotham FC. Gotham FC secured the third-place spot earlier Sunday with a 4-0 victory over AS FAR.

Injury Update
The historic night was slightly tempered by a late injury to Arsenal goalkeeper Anneke Borbe. Borbe was carried off on a stretcher following a heavy collision with teammate Wubben-Moy late in extra time. The club’s medical staff is currently assessing the extent of the injury.
