The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Sindh government commemorated “Youm-i-Marka-i-Haq” with an event in Karachi, marking the anniversary of the 2025 conflict with India. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari hailed Pakistan’s “victory” as a triumph of resolve and unity against external pressure.
This victory was not the victory of weapons alone. It was a triumph of resolve, it was a triumph of unity, it was the triumph of people who refused to kneel – Chairman PPP @BBhuttoZardari at the ceremony marking one year of Marka-e-Haq pic.twitter.com/nEBFQHKFUV

Bhutto-Zardari emphasized that the victory was not solely about military strength but about the unwavering spirit of the Pakistani people. “This victory was not the victory of weapons alone. It was a triumph of resolve. It was a triumph of unity and of people who refused to kneel,” he stated. He underscored the united front presented by Pakistan, “From the mountains of the north to the shores of the Arabian Sea… Pakistan stood as one.”
The PPP chairman affirmed Pakistan’s commitment to sovereignty and resilience: “We are not a nation that bows before pressure. We are not a nation that compromises its sovereignty.” He commended the armed forces, diplomats, and the people for their courage and resilience during the conflict.
Bhutto-Zardari addressed those attempting to “rewrite history,” asserting that Pakistan’s endurance defines its historical narrative. He clarified that Pakistan does not seek conflict but will defend its sovereignty when necessary.
Looking ahead, Bhutto-Zardari emphasized the responsibility that comes with victory: “The burden to build a stronger Pakistan… investing in our people, education, health, and opportunity. It means strengthening our economy so that no external pressure can dictate our destiny.” He advocated for a just, dignified, and mutual peace, urging the youth to be custodians of the nation’s future.
The event, organized by the Sindh government and addressed by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, served to remember the events of the Marka-i-Haq period, which began with the Pahalgam attack on April 22 and concluded with a ceasefire on May 10 brokered through American intervention. The conflict saw retaliatory measures from both sides, including airspace closures, trade suspensions, and air strikes, following India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. Pakistan named the period of conflict Marka-i-Haq, declaring May 10 as “Youm-i-Marka-i-Haq.”
