Reports from Bloomberg confirmed that Apple is set to launch the iPhone 17e, a strategic “mid-cycle” addition to its current smartphone lineup. Positioned as a powerful yet affordable alternative, the 17e is expected to maintain its $599 price point while bridging the gap between the budget-tier SE and the flagship series. Unlike previous “e” models that relied on older internal hardware, the iPhone 17e will reportedly feature the same A19 processor found in the standard iPhone 17, ensuring full compatibility with the latest Apple Intelligence features.

The most significant upgrade for the 17e is the inclusion of MagSafe wireless charging, a first for Apple’s sub-$600 non-SE models. The device will also serve as a pilot for Apple’s proprietary 5G and Wi-Fi chips, as the company moves to reduce its reliance on third-party suppliers. This launch follows the massive success of the iPhone 17 Air, which debuted in late 2025 as the world’s thinnest smartphone at just 5.6mm.
Alongside the hardware, Apple is expected to roll out iOS 26.4, featuring an overhauled Siri. This “Siri 2.0” will utilize on-device large language models to provide deeper personal context and screen awareness, allowing the assistant to handle complex requests like “Send the PDF I was looking at yesterday to Sarah.”
