Maduro and Flores have been safely extracted from the country and are currently in U.S. custody. This action follows a five-month campaign of maximum pressure aimed at restoring the rule of law and ending the humanitarian crisis orchestrated by the Maduro regime.
The operation was executed to hold the Maduro regime accountable for its long history of narco-terrorism and systemic human rights abuses. “This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. law enforcement,” President Trump stated. “The United States will not allow a criminal narco-state to threaten the security of the Western Hemisphere.”
U.S. forces conducted surgical strikes against key military facilities and command centers to ensure the safety of the mission. The administration maintains that these actions were necessary to neutralize the regime’s ability to resist the restoration of democracy.
