State Minister for Interior Tallal Chaudhry announced on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, that the Islamabad police have successfully arrested all suspects involved in the killing of prominent businessman Amir Awan. The victim was murdered during a dacoity at his farmhouse in the Orchard Scheme, an elite neighborhood housing several VIPs and political figures. The arrests follow a 48-hour intensive operation that leveraged advanced artificial intelligence and digital surveillance to track the inter-provincial “Mansoor Khan gang” across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During a press conference alongside Islamabad Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the minister revealed that the gang consisted of both local and foreign nationals, including Afghans. The investigation was a massive logistical undertaking, involving the analysis of 137 phone calls, footage from 257 cameras, and geo-fencing across six different locations. The IG confirmed that the suspects were eventually apprehended during raids in Charsadda and Mardan. This successful resolution comes amid a reported 63% reduction in heinous crimes in the capital over the past year, as the city moves toward becoming Pakistan’s first “Smart City.”
