Punjab Activates 74 Subsidized Ramazan Bazaars Province-Wide

The Punjab government officially transformed 74 Sahulat Bazaars into fully operational Ramazan Bazaars to provide financial relief to millions of citizens. Following the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the initiative ensures the availability of essential food items at rates significantly lower than official Deputy Commissioner (DC) notified prices.

Key commodities include 10kg flour bags priced at Rs850 and sugar at Rs140 per kg. To maintain transparency, a provincial control room has been established for real-time monitoring via CCTV, and all staff leaves have been canceled to ensure high operational standards. For added convenience, the government has introduced free home delivery within a five-kilometer radius for those unable to visit the markets in person.

The Nigehban Ramazan Card serves as a vital tool for the province’s most vulnerable families, allowing them to access an additional Rs10,000 subsidy or free ration bags. While over 400,000 cards have already been delivered, the government aims to complete door-to-door distribution to all four million eligible families by the 10th of the holy month.
