EU VP Kaja Kallas Acknowledges Pakistan’s Role in Regional Peace

In a call on Thursday, European Union Vice President Kaja Kallas expressed her appreciation for Pakistan’s ongoing constructive and facilitative role in promoting regional peace and stability to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation, including its economic and broader implications, and agreed to maintain close communication.

FM Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting dialogue and engagement. He also highlighted the success of the recent EU-Pakistan Business Forum in Islamabad, noting its importance in strengthening partnerships and creating new business opportunities.

This recognition follows recent discussions between FM Dar and the foreign ministers of the United Kingdom, Canada, and Egypt, all emphasizing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for peace.

FM Dar has received international recognition for his diplomatic leadership, particularly in Pakistan’s mediation efforts during the recent Iran-US-Israel crisis. Officials from over ten countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, the US, China, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, and Uzbekistan, have publicly acknowledged Pakistan’s role in facilitating ceasefire negotiations.

Pakistan has emerged as a key facilitator, acting as an “honest broker” between Washington and Tehran. Earlier this month, US and Iranian negotiators held talks in Islamabad, focusing on potential trade-offs between nuclear restrictions and economic relief.
