Pakistan Army Continues Extensive Flood Relief Operations in Punjab

The Pakistan Army is continuing its widespread and decisive flood relief and rescue operations in the districts of Jhang, Faisalabad, Chiniot, Okara and Toba Tek Singh. These efforts are part of a coordinated national response to protect citizens and mitigate the devastating impact of the recent floods.

To safeguard the local population and critical infrastructure in Jhang and Faisalabad, the Pakistan Army’s engineering teams strategically breached an embankment at three different locations. This controlled and pre-emptive measure was executed to divert a massive volume of floodwater, estimated at 100,000 to 150,000 cusecs, downstream. This critical maneuver has been highly effective in protecting populated urban centers and agricultural land from further inundation.

Army personnel are working tirelessly around the clock to shift flood-affected people to safer ground, utilizing both helicopters and boats to access and evacuate stranded individuals and families from remote and inaccessible areas. The professionalism and dedication of the soldiers are evident as they navigate treacherous waters, ensuring that those most at risk, including women, children, and the elderly, are moved to secure locations. These swift actions have already resulted in the rescue of thousands of citizens, highlighting the army’s commitment to saving lives.

In Tandlianwala Tehsil, a robust humanitarian infrastructure has been established to support the victims. This includes five dedicated relief camps, eighteen specialized medical camps, and six dedicated rescue camps, which are providing a full spectrum of support. The relief camps offer secure shelter, cooked meals, and clean drinking water to all who have been displaced. Furthermore, the military’s commitment to humanitarian aid is demonstrated by the provision of essential medical assistance at the relief camps, where army medical teams are offering free treatment and medicines to combat water-borne diseases and other flood-related health issues.

The ongoing operations underscore the unwavering dedication of the Pakistan Army to the safety and well-being of the nation’s citizens. The seamless coordination with civil administration and other emergency services highlights a unified national resolve to stand with the affected population. The bravery and professionalism of the personnel in the face of these formidable challenges underscore their role as a force for stability and security, ensuring the well-being of every citizen.
