Actor Keanu Reeves has successfully recovered valuable possessions, including six watches worth an estimated $125,000, nearly two years after a violent jewelry heist at his Los Angeles home in December 2023. The recovery represents a major success in international law enforcement, as the trail stretched unexpectedly from California to Chile.

The breakthrough occurred in December 2024 when Chilean authorities arrested an individual tied to violent robberies in Santiago, leading to the unexpected resurfacing of the watches, which included an engraved Rolex Submariner. The FBI confirmed the successful return of the items this week, highlighting the essential cross-border cooperation between the FBI, the Los Angeles Police Department, and the Chilean Policía de Investigaciones.

The FBI further revealed that the perpetrators belonged to “South American Theft Groups” (SATG), criminal organizations that travel internationally to commit high-value thefts. The agency is actively investigating multiple SATG-linked crimes across various U.S. jurisdictions, using this case to underscore the vital importance of international partnerships in addressing organized crime. Reeves personally met with investigators in New York in August to retrieve his property and later sent a heartfelt handwritten thank-you note to the agencies involved, expressing his “profound gratitude and appreciation” for their dedication and professionalism.
