ISLAMABAD – The Cabinet Committee on Inter-Governmental Commercial Transactions (CCoIGCT), led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, held a meeting today to advance the process for the transfer of operations of Islamabad International Airport to the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Minister of Petroleum, Advisor on Privatization, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, along with federal secretaries and senior officials from relevant ministries.
Following detailed deliberation, the committee officially decided to finalize arrangements with the UAE government through a Government-to-Government (G2G) model. This process will be guided by a comprehensive framework agreement, ensuring transparency and adherence to established protocols.
To oversee the next steps, a Negotiation Committee has been constituted, which will be chaired by the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Privatization. The committee’s members will include representatives from the Ministries of Defence, Finance, Law & Justice, and Privatisation, ensuring all legal and procedural requirements are met during the transaction.
This strategic decision aims to enhance the operational efficiency and management of Islamabad International Airport, strengthening bilateral cooperation and economic ties between Pakistan and the UAE.
