Islamabad | Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — August 16, 2025 — In response to the escalating humanitarian crisis caused by devastating flash floods across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and adjacent areas, the Pakistan Army has intensified its relief operations, deploying essential resources to assist affected communities.

Army and Frontier Corps teams remain actively engaged in relief efforts in key districts including Buner, Swat, Bajaur, Batagram, Miansera, and more. Helicopters are delivering food, relief supplies, and providing urgent airlift support for evacuations. Some personnel have even been dispatched to remote parts of Gilgit-Baltistan—such as Ghizer district—where temporary tent villages have been established, offering shelter, food, and medical assistance to displaced families.
The Corps of Engineers is spearheading debris clearance and recovery operations, using specialized equipment to rescue those buried under mud or trapped in inaccessible locations. Coordinated efforts with civil authorities and Rescue 1122 units have also enabled rapid response to those stuck under rubble or in isolated areas.
Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has directed full support for disaster relief, including bridge repairs, temporary infrastructure installations, and deploying Urban Search & Rescue teams, along with K-9 units trained for locating survivors. In a demonstration of solidarity, the Army has also donated one day’s salary and over 600 tons of rations toward relief efforts.
The relief mission continues amid dire warnings from meteorologists of ongoing heavy rainfall expected until August 21—raising the urgency for swift evacuation and relief distribution in vulnerable regions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, coordinating with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), has urged accelerated relief distribution of tents, medicine, and food to flood victims, stressing the importance of federal and provincial cooperation in overseeing rescue operations.
Despite operational challenges, the unwavering commitment of the Pakistan Army, working alongside civil authorities and local communities, provides much-needed lifelines to flood-affected citizens. The operation remains active until all individuals have been rescued and relocated to safe shelters.
