Ali Ardeshir Larijani, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, held high-level meetings with Pakistan’s civilian leadership in Islamabad as part of his two-day official visit, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing coordination on regional and international developments.

Mr Larijani met President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Discussions centred on deepening economic cooperation, expanding trade, improving connectivity, and aligning positions on regional issues, including the Gaza peace plan.
Both sides underscored the importance of coordinated efforts to promote peace and stability in the region. Pakistan reaffirmed its desire to boost trade with Iran, enhance cooperation in energy, commerce and railways, and find a mutually workable solution to the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline issue.

It was agreed that a Pakistani delegation led by Deputy PM Ishaq Dar will visit Tehran soon to further advance collaboration, particularly in agriculture and connectivity.
The visit reflects growing diplomatic engagement between Pakistan and Iran and reaffirms their shared commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing evolving regional challenges through dialogue and diplomacy.
