South Korea Launches Samsung Dream Scholarships for Pakistani Students

The Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation announced its latest fully funded program for Pakistani students. This initiative is part of the Global Hope Scholarship Program, specifically designed to support talented individuals from developing countries who wish to pursue higher education in South Korea. The scholarship covers undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral studies at sixteen premier partner institutions, including Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University. Successful applicants will receive living support amounting to 4,800,000 Korean Won per semester, which helps alleviate the financial burden of studying abroad.

To qualify for this prestigious award, Pakistani students must first secure admission to one of the designated partner universities. The selection process is unique because it requires a direct recommendation from the university rather than a direct application to the foundation. Candidates must demonstrate strong academic records, financial need, and a minimum TOPIK Level 2 proficiency in the Korean language. Beyond financial aid, the program emphasizes leadership and community service, requiring scholars to participate in volunteer work and mentoring sessions during their stay in Korea.

The application cycles typically open twice a year in January and July. While the foundation provides substantial living stipends, students are encouraged to check with their specific universities regarding tuition waivers, as policies vary by institution. This scholarship represents a significant opportunity for Pakistani youth to gain international exposure and technical expertise in one of the world’s most advanced educational systems.
