Dec 8, 2025 | Latest News, Crime & Lawfare

The Pakistan Navy (PN) has confirmed a major anti-narcotics interception in the Arabian Sea, seizing 1,500 kilogrammes of hashish with an estimated street value of nearly $3 million. This successful operation underscores the Navy’s sustained commitment to regional maritime security and combating illicit activities.

PNS YAMAMA Operation

In a statement released on Sunday, the Navy announced that Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) YAMAMA, while deployed on a Regional Maritime Security Patrol (RMSP), conducted the operation that led to the significant drug recovery. The RMSP missions are regularly undertaken by the PN to protect national maritime interests through heightened vigilance and sustained presence at sea.

The force highlighted that the interdiction reaffirms its “unwavering commitment to combating illicit activities and ensuring security in the maritime domain.” The Navy also cooperates closely with regional and international partners in coordinated maritime security operations.

Context of Recent Major Seizures

This recent seizure follows an even larger, record-breaking anti-narcotics operation in October 2025, where PNS Yarmook seized drugs worth more than $972 million in the Arabian Sea.

The seizure by PNS Yarmook was supported by the Saudi-led Combined Task Force (CTF) 150 of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF)—a 47-nation naval partnership dedicated to promoting security and stability across key global shipping lanes.

During CTF 150’s Focused Operation AL MASMAK, PNS Yarmook intercepted two dhows not transmitting on Automatic Identification System (AIS). The subsequent seizures included:

  • First Dhow (October 18): Two tons of crystal methamphetamine (ICE) worth over $822 million.
  • Second Dhow (Within 48 hours): 350 kg of ICE worth $140 million and 50 kg of cocaine worth $10 million.

Royal Saudi Naval Forces Commodore Fahad Aljoiad, commander of CTF 150, praised the success of the focused operation, emphasizing the importance of multi-national collaboration and attributing the successful narcotics seizures to the expertise and cooperation of naval forces within the organization. The latest interdiction by PNS YAMAMA further highlights Pakistan’s continued, active contribution to ensuring a safe and secure maritime environment across the region.
