Air Chief Marshal Prapas Sonjaidee, Director of the Joint Press Centre, announced today that the Thai armed forces remain on full alert to protect national territory and sovereignty, despite the implementation of a 72-hour temporary ceasefire.
The ceasefire, agreed upon by the Thai–Cambodian General Border Committee (GBC), is described as a strategic measure to build lasting peace and facilitate urgent humanitarian tasks without compromising Thailand’s sovereign rights or military positions.

Military Readiness and Surveillance
Air Chief Marshal Prapas emphasized that Thai troops will maintain their current positions with full combat readiness throughout the period. “The ceasefire is not an end to national defense, but a reduction in active clashes to assess the situation,” Prapas stated.
To address concerns regarding potential troop reinforcements by Cambodia, the Thai military has implemented the following measures:
- Intelligence and Patrols: Active monitoring of all border movements using advanced intelligence operations.
- Documentation: Systematic recording of any irregular movements or coordinates to safeguard Thailand’s rights in future negotiations.
- Immediate Response: Thailand reserves the right to self-defense and will respond proportionately and immediately to any violation of the agreement.
Public Safety and Civil Reintegration
The 72-hour window is intended to allow for the verification of facts on the ground and the assistance of local residents. However, the military cautioned that a ceasefire does not equate to the immediate reopening of all areas.
A gradual return for residents will only be permitted following “point-by-point” safety assessments, which include:
- Clearance of landmines and unexploded ordnance.
- Evaluation of the risk of renewed clashes.
- Enhanced property protection and security checkpoints.
Diplomatic and Information Strategy
Air Chief Marshal Prapas clarified that while Thailand has considered suggestions from international allies, all final decisions remain solely with the Thai government and military. He firmly denied the existence of “secret deals,” asserting that all actions are taken in the national interest.

Furthermore, the military is prepared to counter “information warfare” through proactive, transparent communication based on international standards, relying on a “verifiable” system rather than trust alone.
