The Government of Balochistan and Pakistan’s security forces have conducted a massive counter-terrorism operation over the past 48 hours, neutralizing 145 members of the “Fitna al-Hindustan” (the banned Balochistan Liberation Army – BLA) following a series of coordinated attacks, under Operation Herof 2.0, across the province.
Unprecedented Counter-Terrorism Success
Provincial Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti confirmed in a press briefing in Quetta that the scale of the military response is the highest in decades.
- Neutralization Statistics: Military officials reported 92 terrorists killed on Saturday and 41 on Friday, bringing the total to 145.
- Foreign Elements: Chief Minister Bugti stated that several of the deceased militants have been identified as Afghan nationals.
- Pre-emptive Action: Authorities revealed that the high success rate of the response was due to intelligence-led “pre-operations” initiated 24 hours prior to the main assaults.

Indiscriminate Targeting of Civilians
The Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Defence have condemned the BLA for their “audacious” yet cowardly tactics. Reports confirm that:
- Attackers disguised themselves as civilians to penetrate hospitals, schools, and markets.
- Terrorists utilized innocent civilians as human shields during fire-fights.
- The assaults involved female combatants and targeted low-income laborers and ordinary shopkeepers in districts including Quetta, Gwadar, Mastung, and Noshki.
Provincial Security Restrictions Imposed
To ensure public safety and prevent further escalation, the provincial government has immediately implemented several security protocols:
- Public Gatherings: A comprehensive ban on all public demonstrations and large gatherings.
- Identification Laws: A strict ban on face coverings in public places to ensure the identification of individuals.
- Movement Controls: Implementation of months-long traffic restrictions and the sealing of sensitive city centers.
- Enhanced Patrols: Increased presence of Frontier Corps and police units across major highways and urban hubs.
Diplomatic Stance, and Foreign Interference
Chief Minister Bugti reiterated the government’s stance on foreign backing of separatist elements, accusing senior BLA leadership of operating from Afghan soil with support from external intelligence agencies. While regional neighbors have issued denials, the Government of Pakistan maintains its resolve to defend its territorial integrity.

Solidarity, and Regional Stability
The United States, through its Mission in Pakistan, has officially condemned the BLA’s actions as “terrorist violence,” standing in solidarity with Pakistan’s efforts to restore peace to its largest province.
The Government remains committed to the protection of its citizens and the ongoing development projects in Balochistan, vowing that such “acts of desperation” will not deter the state from its path of progress.
