Armed Forces Pay Glowing Tribute on 54th Shahadat Anniversary of Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas (NH)









Rawalpindi — The Armed Forces of Pakistan, led by the country’s military leadership, solemnly observed the 54th Shahadat anniversary of Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas (Nishan-e-Haider), paying rich tribute to his unparalleled courage, loyalty, and sacrifice in the line of duty.

On this occasion, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff; General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee; Admiral Naveed Ashraf, NI, NI (M), Chief of the Naval Staff; and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, NI (M), HJ, Chief of the Air Staff, joined the nation in honoring the legacy of the youngest recipient of Pakistan’s highest gallantry award.

On August 20, 1971, Pilot Officer Rashid Minhas demonstrated extraordinary resolve and selflessness when he embraced martyrdom to prevent the hijacking of his aircraft, safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty. His historic decision to sacrifice his life rather than allow the aircraft to be taken across the border remains a timeless example of devotion to duty and unflinching patriotism.

Symbol of National Pride

In their message, the Armed Forces underlined that Minhas’s indomitable spirit continues to inspire generations of officers and soldiers, reinforcing the sacred values of loyalty, courage, and duty. His supreme sacrifice serves as a constant reminder of the heavy price paid for freedom and the enduring responsibility of defending the motherland.
