All students and staff at Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan were safely evacuated on Tuesday amid an ongoing counterterrorism operation against militants hiding inside the facility, according to security sources.
The clearance mission, led by the Frontier Corps’ inspector general for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South), began after attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the college gate on Monday. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that three people were martyred during the operation and alleged that the militants were Afghan nationals coordinating with handlers across the border.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) described the assault as an “act of barbarism orchestrated from Afghanistan,” likening it to the 2014 Army Public School attack. Officials said the operation would continue “until the last terrorist is eliminated,” with three militants believed to be confined to one building.
The attack has drawn strong condemnation from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s leadership, which called targeting educational institutions a “cowardly act,” while a peace jirga is set to convene to address the region’s deteriorating security situation.
