President Trump Directs Federal Agencies to Declassify UAP and Alien-Related Government Files

Did not know aliens exist? Well for your kind information they do. President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he will formally direct federal agencies to begin the systematic release of government files concerning unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and extraterrestrial life. Citing “strong public interest,” the President stated he will order Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and other agency heads to disclose information previously held under classified status.

The move follows a series of public comments in which the President described the matter as “extremely interesting and important,” while noting that he has not yet seen definitive evidence confirming the existence of extraterrestrial life. “I don’t know if they’re real or not,” Trump told reporters, emphasizing that the transparency initiative is aimed at addressing long-standing public curiosity.

The announcement comes amidst a public dispute regarding the handling of sensitive information. While traveling to Georgia, President Trump alleged that former President Barack Obama improperly discussed classified data during a recent interview regarding Area 51 and the existence of aliens. Former President Obama has denied seeing evidence of extraterrestrial contact during his tenure, attributing his belief in the existence of aliens to the vast statistical probabilities of the universe rather than classified briefings.

The Pentagon and the National Archives have historically maintained that the majority of UFO sightings—now officially termed Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP)—are misidentified terrestrial objects or atmospheric phenomena. A 2024 Pentagon report concluded there was no evidence of extraterrestrial technology or “off-world” crash recoveries.

By directing the Department of Defense and related intelligence agencies to open their archives, the administration aims to provide a definitive account of the government’s findings on UAPs.
