Google has begun rolling out AI-generated summaries for app reviews on the Play Store, offering users a quicker way to gauge an app’s pros and cons without scrolling through thousands of comments.
The feature, currently available in limited capacity, condenses user feedback into a three-to-four sentence summary that highlights both positive and negative aspects and ends with a note — “Summarized by Google AI.”
Located under the “Ratings and Reviews” section, the update also introduces new filter chips that let users sort reviews based on specific features or issues.
While many welcome the change as a time-saving improvement, some users have raised concerns over the accuracy of AI interpretations.
The update builds on Google’s broader AI strategy, including the integration of Gemini capabilities into the Play Store, aimed at enhancing user experience, app discovery, and decision-making efficiency.
