Pakistan’s Business Community Lauds COAS for Resolving Key Issues and Championing Economic Transformation

LAHORE, Pakistan – August 9, 2025 – The Pakistani business community has expressed its profound gratitude and admiration for Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for his “tremendous service to the business sector.” Business leaders, including representatives from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce, have praised the COAS for his instrumental role in resolving long-standing issues and for his vision to transform Pakistan into an “Asian tiger.”

Business leaders believe that the COAS’s efforts have ushered in a new era of optimism and progress for the private sector. A key point of commendation was the successful amendment of Section 37A, which had previously allowed Grade-16 officers to arrest businessmen—a practice that had severely damaged business confidence and investment. While reaffirming their commitment to paying taxes, the business community has vowed to stand united against any threats to their rights.

The business leaders also highlighted the urgent need to reduce the cost of doing business, calling on the government to lower electricity tariffs and interest rates to maintain Pakistan’s competitive edge. They further criticized the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) for retroactively imposing levies on gas bills and demanded an immediate reversal of the measure.

This commendation underscores the growing confidence of the business community in the military leadership’s commitment to fostering a stable and prosperous economic environment in Pakistan.
