Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir visited the Bahawalpur Garrison to review operational readiness and witness a high-intensity field exercise. During the visit, he reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the nation’s sovereignty against all threats. He emphasized that the military is undergoing a major transformation, shifting from traditional physical maneuvers toward technology-driven multi-domain operations.

The center-piece of the visit was the “Steadfast Resolve” exercise held at Khairpur Tamewali (KPT). The drill showcased the integration of emerging technologies, including unmanned aerial systems (drones), advanced electronic warfare assets, and modern command-and-control mechanisms. The Field Marshal noted that future conflicts would be fundamentally altered by these advancements, requiring a “mental transformation” at all levels. He stressed that innovation and indigenization are now central to Pakistan’s defensive and offensive military strategies.

Beyond combat readiness, the Field Marshal inaugurated the ROHI E-Skills Learning Hub, a new digital facility designed to provide IT training and mentoring for students in Southern Punjab. He also opened the APS Abbasia Campus, reinforcing the military’s commitment to regional education. Before concluding his visit, he laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada, paying tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs in the line of duty.
