Future Warfare: Field Marshal Asim Munir Reaffirms Sovereignty and Tech Shift

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir visited the Bahawalpur Garrison to review operational readiness and witness a high-intensity field exercise. During the visit, he reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the nation’s sovereignty against all threats. He emphasized that the military is undergoing a major transformation, shifting from traditional physical maneuvers toward technology-driven multi-domain operations.

The center-piece of the visit was the “Steadfast Resolve” exercise held at Khairpur Tamewali (KPT). The drill showcased the integration of emerging technologies, including unmanned aerial systems (drones), advanced electronic warfare assets, and modern command-and-control mechanisms. The Field Marshal noted that future conflicts would be fundamentally altered by these advancements, requiring a “mental transformation” at all levels. He stressed that innovation and indigenization are now central to Pakistan’s defensive and offensive military strategies.
