Inside the Iran Conflict: Goals, Power, and Survival

The United States: Pressure, Power, and Unclear Goals

The role of the United States in the war has raised many questions. President Donald Trump appears to have changed goals. At times, he focuses on stopping Iran’s nuclear program, while at other moments, he suggests bigger aims like forcing major political change in Iran. The US has carried out strong military strikes, weakening Iran’s forces.

However, it is still unclear what final result Washington truly wants. Some believe the US hopes for a complete change in Iran’s leadership, while others think it simply wants Iran to reduce its military power and regional influence. Rising oil prices and pressure at home may also push the US to end the war sooner rather than later.

Iran: Survival and Resistance

For Iran, the main goal is simple: survive and stay in power. Despite heavy attacks, Iran has not given in. Its leaders, including Mojtaba Khamenei, are focused on resisting pressure without accepting all US demands. Iran is willing to talk about limits on its nuclear program, but it refuses to give up its missile systems or its regional allies.

The country also uses its strong geographic position, especially near the Strait of Hormuz, to put pressure on global trade. Iran wants the war to end, but only if it can do so without looking weak. Even surviving the conflict could be seen as a victory for its leadership.

A War with No Easy End

This conflict shows how different goals make peace difficult. The US wants change, while Iran wants stability and survival. Other countries are cautious and do not want to get deeply involved. As the war continues, both sides face pressure, but neither seems ready to fully step back. This creates a dangerous situation where the fighting could go on longer than expected, with serious consequences for the region and the world.
