Iran Announces New Maritime Regulations in the Strait of Hormuz
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced the implementation of new maritime rules along Iran’s coastline in the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC Navy will assume control over nearly 2,000 kilometers of Iranian coastline in these strategic waterways. This move, directed by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, aims to bolster Iran’s security and economic interests in the region. US to Withdraw Troops from Germany
In a related development, the United States is set to withdraw 5,000 troops from Germany, a NATO ally. This decision follows disagreements between President Trump and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz regarding the handling of the conflict with Iran. A Pentagon official stated that recent German rhetoric was “inappropriate and unhelpful.” The withdrawal is expected to take place over the next six to twelve months, reducing US troop levels in Europe to pre-2022 levels. This move underscores the Trump administration’s emphasis on Europe taking greater responsibility for its own security.
