The Ministry of Internal Affairs has identified the deceased officers as:
- Ilya Klimanov, 24
- Maxim Gorbunov, 25
“This was a targeted, cowardly attack on young officers performing their duty to ensure the safety of Moscow’s citizens,” said spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko. “A criminal case has been opened, and specialized investigators are working to determine the origin of the device and any potential links to external terrorist organizations.”
Authorities are investigating potential connections between today’s blast and the car bombing on Monday that killed Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarvarov. Security measures across the capital have been heightened as forensic teams process the scene.
