Microsoft announced a major expansion of its AI skilling initiative in Saudi Arabia during the Microsoft AI Tour Riyadh. In a move to support the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, the tech giant committed to helping three million people acquire essential AI skills by the end of the decade. This follows the successful completion of training for over 800,000 learners to date, far surpassing initial government targets.

The cornerstone of this new phase is the launch of Microsoft Elevate for Educators, a program designed to provide free AI literacy credentials to 500,000 teachers. Additionally, Microsoft confirmed that its first Middle East Datacenter Academy is now active, preparing the local workforce for the launch of the Saudi Arabia East datacenter region in late 2026. A significant focus of the roadmap remains gender inclusion, with targeted mentorship programs aimed at placing more women in high-demand digital and leadership roles.

Saudi Minister of Communications Abdullah Al-Swaha welcomed the partnership, noting that investing in human capital at this scale is essential for translating AI innovation into national productivity. As AI becomes embedded in Saudi public services and cities, these programs ensure the next generation is equipped to govern and build with these frontier technologies.
