Islamabad, Pakistan – August 5, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar today addressed a rally at D Chowk to commemorate Youm-e-Istehsal (Kashmir Exploitation Day), reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to peace and diplomacy while vowing a robust response to any aggression. The Deputy Prime Minister stated;
“Pakistan is committed to dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward… We remain committed to peace and peaceful coexistence, but no one should misconstrue it as weakness, as we will give a robust response to any aggression.”
He recalled that on August 5, 2019, India unilaterally revoked the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of its Constitution, imposing a months-long lockdown, restricting public movement, and suspending fundamental rights. He criticized India for taking “draconian measures” and altering the demographic delineations of the region in an attempt to consolidate its control.
Senator Dar firmly rejected Indian claims of Kashmir being an “internal matter,” asserting that as a party to the dispute alongside the Kashmiri people, Pakistan would not accept any unilateral decisions that violate UN resolutions and international norms. He reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue its moral, political, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people in their struggle for their right to self-determination.
The deputy prime minister also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts on the global stage, noting that during the country’s presidency of the United Nations Security Council in July 2025, he raised the Kashmir issue alongside the Palestinian cause, advocating for justice and self-determination. He called on India to uphold democratic principles, release political prisoners, lift oppressive laws, and implement UNSC resolutions granting Kashmiris the right to self-determination.
