The highlight of AWS’s new offerings is the AWS Certified Generative AI Developer – Professional, a certification designed for professionals with hands-on experience building production-grade AI applications. Candidates need familiarity with AWS infrastructure, machine learning, and generative AI deployment. This certification aligns with roles such as AI software developer, which pays an average of $103,877 annually in the U.S.
AWS has also introduced two specialized microcredentials, AWS Serverless Demonstrated and AWS Agentic AI Demonstrated. These validate practical, scenario-based expertise in serverless architectures and agentic AI systems, including hands-on work with Amazon Bedrock. Salaries for professionals with these skills range from $153,000 for serverless developers to over $220,000 for agentic AI roles.
In a major incentive, AWS is offering free exam prep materials for its Cloud Practitioner and AI Practitioner certifications until January 2026, giving learners an opportunity to strengthen foundational skills before pursuing advanced credentials.
