The Pakistan Navy (PN) today announced a monumental success in global counter-narcotics efforts, confirming that Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Yarmook intercepted and seized illicit drugs with an estimated street value exceeding $972 million during operations in the Arabian Sea last week.
PNS Yarmook, operating in direct support of the Saudi-led Combined Task Force (CTF) 150 of the Combined Maritime Force (CMF), executed the operation as part of Focused Operation Al Masmak, which commenced on October 16.

The successful mission involved the interception of two different dhow sailing boats within a swift 48-hour period:
- First Interception (October 18): The crew of PNS Yarmook seized over two tons of crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $822.4 million.
- Second Interception (Less than 48 hours later): A subsequent boarding operation resulted in the seizure of 350 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (worth $140 million) and 50 kilograms of cocaine (worth $10 million).
The combined haul of over 2.4 metric tons marks one of the most successful narcotics seizures in the history of the CMF operations. The intercepted vessels were identified as having no nationality and the seized narcotics were safely transported back to PNS Yarmook for disposal, in line with international protocols.
This achievement powerfully highlights the Pakistan Navy’s unwavering commitment to regional maritime security, global peace, and the collective fight against illicit trafficking at sea.
Commending the ship’s crew for their professionalism and dedication, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf emphasized, “Pakistan Navy remains steadfast in its mission to safeguard national maritime interests while contributing to the global commons through cooperation and coordinated maritime security efforts.”
Admiral Naveed Ashraf further underscored that PNS Yarmook’s operation under the Saudi-led task force will significantly enhance interoperability between the two navies and strengthen defence collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The success of this focused operation was echoed by Royal Saudi Naval Forces Commodore Fahad Aljoiad, commander of CTF 150, who praised the multi-national collaboration required for such a significant outcome.
