These accidents caused millions in losses, destroyed engines, and led to the death of an assistant driver in September. Beyond physical damage, the network was plagued by persistent delays, with trains frequently departing hours behind schedule.

Despite these failures, government efforts remained largely superficial. While station buildings were renovated and Wi-Fi introduced at select hubs, no significant progress was made in modernizing aging tracks or signaling systems. This lack of structural investment left the network vulnerable to human error and environmental damage. Although security agencies were tasked with oversight, the continued reliance on unmanned level crossings and a lack of automated safety systems remain critical gaps.
