Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif formally condemned recent strikes on Kuwait during a high-level call with Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled on Friday, March 27, 2026. The exchange follows a series of Iranian-linked drone and missile attacks targeting Kuwaiti infrastructure, including a significant strike on the fuel tanks at Kuwait International Airport on March 25. Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the Gulf state as the regional conflict, which began with joint U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran on February 28, continues to disrupt global energy and security.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister apprised the Kuwaiti leadership of Islamabad’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to mediate between Washington and Tehran. The Kuwaiti Crown Prince expressed deep appreciation for Pakistan’s leadership and fully endorsed its role as a key intermediary in seeking a peaceful resolution. This diplomatic push comes at a critical juncture; while President Trump recently claimed talks were “going well,” Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have issued fresh warnings for civilians to stay away from U.S. military assets, signaling a potential escalation despite the extension of the U.S. deadline for reopening the Strait of Hormuz to April 6.
