The Islamabad district administration launched a reporting mechanism for citizens to combat artificial fuel shortages. Following a massive Rs55 per litre price hike and reports of hoarding, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad issued a public advisory urging residents to report any petrol pump that refuses to provide petrol or diesel. This move aligns with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent directive to OGRA to cancel the licenses of stations involved in “nefarious” hoarding practices.

Residents can now immediately inform the authorities by calling the Islamabad District Administration Control Room at 051-9108084. Additionally, reports can be submitted through the administration’s official social media channels. The advisory emphasizes that public vigilance is essential to ensure a fair supply and prevent market manipulation while global oil prices remain volatile due to the ongoing conflict in the Strait of Hormuz.

The administration has stationed monitoring teams across the capital to verify reports and take legal action against violators. As global crude prices officially climbed above $90 per barrel for the first time in two years, the government is utilizing real-time data and public cooperation to stabilize the domestic market. Citizens are encouraged to share specific locations and details of non-compliant stations to facilitate swift enforcement.
