China Supports Peace Talks and Pakistan’s Mediation Role

In a key diplomatic exchange, Wang Yi told Ishaq Dar that initiating peace talks in the ongoing conflict involving Iran is challenging but essential for regional stability. He emphasized that dialogue between the United States and Iran would help restore normal navigation through the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

China also expressed clear support for Pakistan’s role as a mediator, recognizing its growing diplomatic importance in de-escalation efforts.

Joint Commitment to Ceasefire and Regional Stability

During the call, both sides agreed to jointly promote a ceasefire, cessation of hostilities, and the resumption of peace talks. They stressed the importance of protecting non-combatants and ensuring the safety of critical waterways.

In a public statement, Ishaq Dar reaffirmed China and Pakistan’s shared commitment to restoring peace across the Middle East, emphasizing adherence to international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Ongoing Mediation Efforts and International Coordination

Pakistan continues to play a central role in facilitating indirect communication between Washington and Tehran through structured message relays. A 15-point framework proposed by the United States is currently under consideration by Iran, signaling cautious diplomatic progress.

These mediation efforts are being supported by Turkiye and Egypt, reflecting a broader regional push for dialogue and conflict resolution. China has also previously commended Pakistan’s constructive role, reinforcing international backing for its diplomatic initiatives.
