Russia pounded Ukraine with over 450 drones and 45 missiles in overnight assaults, killing at least three civilians and crippling vital energy facilities across three regions, Ukrainian authorities reported Saturday.

In Dnipro, a drone strike demolished an apartment block, claiming two lives and wounding 12. One fatality was confirmed in Kharkiv region. Power plants in Kyiv, Poltava, and Kharkiv sustained heavy damage, disrupting electricity, water, and heating supplies ahead of winter.

Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko confirmed rapid restoration efforts underway, while President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded escalated sanctions: “For every Moscow strike on energy infrastructure aimed at harming ordinary people before winter, there must be a sanctions response targeting all Russian energy—with no exceptions.”
Ukraine’s air force downed 406 drones and nine missiles, though 26 missiles and 52 drones struck 25 sites.
Moscow’s Defence Ministry described the barrage as a “massive strike with high-precision weapons” on Ukrainian arms production and energy sites, retaliating for Kyiv’s attacks on Russia.
Ground Advances Russian forces captured the small village of Vovche in Dnipropetrovsk region’s southeast. The ministry reported steady gains in intense urban combat around Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad (Donetsk), claiming both towns encircled, and progress in Kupiansk (Kharkiv), where Ukrainian units are reportedly surrounded.
As winter looms, the escalating air and ground campaigns underscore the urgent need for de-escalation and renewed diplomatic efforts to protect civilians and critical infrastructure.
