Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, and Pakistan to Establish Joint Secretariat Under Makkah Pact

Representatives from the signatory nations of Makkah Joint Defence Agreement met in Istanbul on Monday. Thereafter, the announcement to establish a Permanent Secretariat, under the pact, in Saudi Arabia was made.

As per the statement jointly issued by the three nations i.e., Pakistan, Turkiye, and Saudi Arabia the Secretariat will be headed by Secretary General from Pakistan for a tenure of three years.

The core commitment and principles of the Makkah Agreement was reaffirmed that an armed attack on any of the signatory nations will be considered as an attack on all. Moreover, joint operational commitments warranted reinforcing collective defense capabilities for enhanced cohesion among their armed forces.
