Trump Threatens Iran with Infrastructure Attacks Amid Rising Tensions

US President Donald Trump has ramped up his threats against Iran, warning late Thursday that America “hasn’t even started destroying what’s left” and that bridges and electric power plants could be next.

In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote: “Bridges next, then Electric Power Plants!” He added that the “New Regime leadership knows what has to be done, and has to be done, FAST!”

This comes just a day after he vowed in a national speech to bring Iran “back to the Stone Ages.” Hours later, Iranian state media reported that a newly built bridge near Tehran was destroyed in an airstrike, killing eight people.

Iran quickly hit back. Tasnim news agency claimed an American F-35 fighter jet was shot down over central Iran, sharing images of debris that appeared to show “U.S. Air Forces in Europe” markings. Neither the US Central Command nor Iran has officially confirmed the report yet.

On the ground, operations at Abu Dhabi’s Hadshan gas facilities were suspended Friday after debris from an intercepted missile caused a fire. No injuries were reported.

The tough talk is raising serious concerns. Legal experts warn that attacking power plants or water facilities could amount to war crimes, as they’re essential for civilian survival. Over 100 international law specialists signed a letter Thursday calling out the threats.

Meanwhile, the Gulf Cooperation Council has asked the UN Security Council for action against Iranian attacks, but China, Russia, and France reportedly blocked a resolution that would have allowed military force to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

As the war enters its fifth week, oil prices remain volatile, shipping is disrupted, and both sides continue trading sharp warnings with no clear end in sight.
