Nov 12, 2025 | Latest News, Global Affairs

A Turkish Air Force C-130 military transport plane crashed on Tuesday near Georgia’s Lagodekhi region, close to the Azerbaijani border, while returning from Azerbaijan, officials said.

Turkey’s Defence Ministry confirmed the incident, stating that search and rescue operations were being conducted jointly with Georgian authorities.

The aircraft was carrying 20 people, including crew members, when it went down about five kilometres from the border. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed grief over the crash, praying for those aboard and referring to them as “martyrs.”

Georgia’s Interior Ministry also confirmed the accident, while Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said he had spoken to his Georgian counterpart, Gela Geladze, who was en route to the crash site. Turkish Communications Director Burhanettin Duran urged the public to avoid speculation and rely on official updates.

No details have yet been released about casualties or the cause of the crash, but authorities said rescue operations remain ongoing in coordination between the two countries.
