A first-semester pharmacy student at the University of Lahore (UOL) sustained critical injuries after jumping from the second floor of the pharmacy department on Monday, January 5, 2026. According to Lahore DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, the student, a resident of Narowal, was reportedly mid-phone call when the incident occurred. While she suffered a minor head injury and profound chest trauma, her condition is currently stable at Lahore General Hospital, though her legs are fractured. Police have seized her mobile phone for forensic analysis to determine the motive behind the suspected suicide attempt.

Following the incident, the UOL administration suspended all on-campus activities and shifted to online classes effective Tuesday, January 6. The university is reportedly considering installing safety fences on elevated floors to prevent future tragedies. This incident marks the second such tragedy in less than three weeks; on December 19, 2025, another pharmacy student died after jumping from the fourth floor, allegedly due to academic pressure and attendance issues. While a formal FIR has not yet been filed, police are awaiting the student’s recovery and her parents’ consent to proceed with a detailed investigation.
