Israel Launches Massive Strikes After Evacuation Order

Israel launched a devastating aerial bombardment of southern Beirut, hours after ordering more than 500,000 residents to evacuate immediately. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) instructed the entire population of the Dahiya district to “save your lives,” triggering a chaotic exodus that paralyzed the Lebanese capital. Footage from the scene showed massive plumes of smoke rising over neighborhoods containing hospitals and government ministries. Israel’s Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, warned that the area would soon resemble the destroyed landscapes of Gaza.

The offensive in Lebanon, sparked by Hezbollah missile fire on Monday, is part of a rapidly expanding war now affecting 14 countries. While Israel and the U.S. continue to strike key ballistic sites and security installations across Iran, Tehran has responded with a 21st wave of retaliatory strikes. Iranian drones and missiles targeted the U.S. Al Udeid base in Qatar and sites in the irisUAE, Kuwait, and Iraq. In a major maritime escalation, Sri Lankan officials confirmed the recovery of 87 bodies after a U.S. submarine sank the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena earlier this week.

Politically, President Donald Trump has offered “immunity” to IRGC members who surrender but vowed “guaranteed death” for those who resist. Trump also asserted that the U.S. must oversee the selection of Iran’s next Supreme Leader, rejecting the late Ayatollah Khamenei’s son as a successor. With the death toll in Iran surpassing 1,230 and global oil markets in turmoil, the conflict shows no signs of de-escalation as both sides prepare for high-intensity ground operations.
