The PTI government under Imran Khan downgraded diplomatic ties, suspended the Samjhauta and Thar Express, froze trade, and appealed to the UN and OIC. Official statements condemned India’s actions as illegal and promised legal challenge. However, no UN resolution, ICJ filing, or binding legal pressure emerged. Instead, PTI relied on rallies, social media hashtags, national speeches, and symbolic diplomacy. Domestic analysts criticized the lack of policy coherence: despite strong rhetoric, Pakistan failed to develop any plausible international strategy to reverse the annexation.
