Beijing Job Fair Bridges Pakistani Professionals and Chinese Firms in Pakistan

The Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, in collaboration with China International Intellectech Co. (CIIC) and the China Overseas Development Association (CODA), hosted a pilot job fair to bridge the gap between Pakistani talent in China and Chinese firms operating in Pakistan. The event targeted the approximately 29,000 Pakistani students currently enrolled in Chinese universities, roughly 6,000 of whom are on scholarships, as well as working professionals already based in China. Within a 15-day registration window, over 400 individuals signed up for the fair, reflecting significant demand for structured career pathways that utilize China-based education for Pakistan’s national development.

Ambassador Khalil Hashmi addressed the attendees, urging them to see themselves not just as employees, but as “bridge builders” essential to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) framework. The fair provided a dual advantage: Pakistani graduates gained access to managerial and technical roles in energy, infrastructure, and IT, while Chinese enterprises secured a workforce with local cultural fluency and technical training. CODA President He Zengwei highlighted that such initiatives are vital for the second phase of CPEC, which prioritizes industrialization and the deployment of a skilled, cross-cultural workforce to ensure the success of long-term joint ventures.

Education Attaché Sufyan Ahmed Mian emphasized that the embassy is focusing on a “value chain” approach to human resources. By connecting graduates with formal labor contracts and insurance-backed roles in Pakistan, the initiative aims to turn academic achievements into tangible economic contributions. Students at the event noted that working for Chinese firms allows them to bring specialized technical skills and Mandarin language proficiency back to their home country, directly supporting Pakistan’s industrial modernization.
