Armoured Vehicle Hit by a Tank

At least six police officers were martyred on Monday when an improvised explosive device struck a police armoured personnel carrier in the Gomal area while it was travelling from Gomal to Tank in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. Officials said the blast destroyed the vehicle, killing all personnel on board.

The martyred officers were identified as Station House Officer Ishaq Ahmed Khan, Sub-Inspector Sher Aslam Khan, Arshad Ali, driver Abdul Majeed, Hazrat Ali and Ehsan Ullah. The attack is one of the deadliest against police in the province in recent weeks.

Second IED Targets Police in Lakki Marwat

In a separate incident the same day, another IED targeted a police vehicle near the Darah Tang bridge in Lakki Marwat. Three police personnel, including SHO Razaq Khan, were injured in the explosion. Police said the device had been planted along the roadside and detonated as the vehicle passed.

Officials revealed that the district police officer was expected to travel through the same route shortly after the blast. A day earlier, unknown gunmen had abducted a lawyer from the same area, raising concerns about growing militant activity.

Gun Attack and Overnight Assault

In another violent incident, unidentified assailants shot dead a police officer, Ismat, and his cousin in the Kachi Kathgarh area. Meanwhile, in Bannu district, militants launched a late-night attack on the Nala Kasho police post. Police successfully repelled the assault after a heavy exchange of fire, forcing the attackers to retreat.
