Crackdown Against Digital Fraudsters | 700+ Arrested

Authorities recently arrested 284 foreign nationals involved in online fraud, dissemination and creation of obscene content from a private housing society in Islamabad. Prior to arrests their visas were cancelled and special permits were issued to ensure their deportation from Pakistan.

All 284 arrested individuals are citizens of Vietnam, Indonesia and China. These individuals will be transferred to Adiala Jail and thereafter, deported.

In an earlier crackdown National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) arrested 400 foreign nationals from SPARCO Plaza in Gulberg Greens, Islamabad. As per the officials the arrested individuals had entered Pakistan on tourist or business visas but were involved in unauthorised business activities and operating illegal call centres.

A similar FIA led operation took place in Gujranwala, Sialkot and Gujrat wherein, 17 people were arrested for their alleged involvement in human trafficking.

As the world advances technologically the vulnerabilities to online and digital fraud plummet. Foreign nationals are running illegitimate businesses from Pakistan, scamming people worldwide.

The relevant authorities, FIA and NCCIA, are diligently cracking-down such networks. Over the course of last week 700+ individuals have been arrested.
